    Hello

I was given an interesting stove, and I’ve been looking for more information about it. This forum has been very informative so I thought someone here may know more about this.

The stove was found in its original box from the western auto supply co. stuffed with newspaper from 1937.

Pictures of the tank, burner assembly, and generator connection.

From what I can tell it looks very similar to a Turner model 1161 posted by snwcmpr.

Ken I believe the x 141 had dual valves and the tank mounted in front.
It is a Turner and despite the color it isn't a military stove.
It looks to be in good shape a good cleaning and she should probably fire right up.

    Welcome to CCS.

Sorry Ken should have hit the link and saw where you were sending him. For some reason I thought you were telling him it was a x141. My brain is still a little fuzzy.

Yes, there is a 140 in the link.
The description shows after I posted tge link. It does look confusing.

Thank you for the info, and the welcome.

Duck, as you suspected it appears to have survived the years well. A little bit of maintenance and it runs really sweet.

    All I did:
    Oiled pump leather
    Replaced tank/pump gasket
Cleaned & rebuilt pump check valve

@Roustabout I came across the same stove in used condition and will add to library.
Have you found any more info? What I read was X-140 stove sold through Western Auto Supply Co. was made by Truner Brass works Sycamore, Illinois. 1938. 100_6772.JPG 100_6773.JPG 100_6780.JPG 100_6776.JPG 100_6774.JPG Mine fired right up after replacing fill gasket and oiling the plunger. Read how to light the thing by your tag, mine is missing.

    Hey Daryl!

Great find! Little tank of a stove. Smaller than it looks in pictures.

Mine runs like a champ, but sits comfortably in its box.

I haven’t found much more than that, really. Came across a few western auto advertisements with two different versions. The X-140, and what I believe is the X-141 with two generators. If I recall they just called that the “deluxe” model.

I’ll have to look for the ad!

Ha! Roustabout - I was cleaning out my shed today and came across a number of camp cookstoves that I bought a number of years ago from a boy scout troop that was selling all their old ones and buying new. I've had these a number of years but had never really checked them out. Today I came across the X-140 you described. I oiled up the leather pump and it pumped air fine. Cleaned up the outside with WD-40 and got all of the old mud-dauber nests out of it. My guess is it will work fine once I soak the generator valves in diesel for a bit. Otherwise it is in good shape. My question to you is.... Can I get copies of your parts list and instructions for the stove? I would like to put that with mine for future generations! I have a number of old camp stoves that I have collected over the years.... since they are still relatively cheap at auctions!
